A SUMMER BALLROOM WEDDING AT UNION STATION IN DALLAS, TEXAS
The Story: How the Right Decor Made This Dallas Wedding Feel Like a European Destination
When I first met Rachael and Sargon, they had their hearts set on a destination wedding. They had pictured saying “I do” amid the warm splendor of the Amalfi Coast. Located in the Campania region of Italy, this coastline looks picturesque—like it was painted on a canvas. Despite this, Rachael and Sargon knew that the picture would be incomplete without key members of their family, who wouldn’t be able to travel to their wedding due to age, health, or other circumstances. Our mission? To collaborate and create a wedding experience that evoked their dream destination while staying close to home.
Our goal was to create a wedding experience inspired by the Amalfi Coast of Italy, complete with lemons, right here in the heart of Dallas, Texas. What better way to transport guests than a train station? Although we never left the venue, Union Station’s Beaux-Arts Classic style was reminiscent of the grandeur of Italian architecture. The lemon—"Sfusato d’Amalfi”—remains an icon of the Amalfi Coast and thus was an integral part of Rachel and Sargon's wedding experience. And, most importantly, their picturesque nuptials were held in a convenient locale so family members could share in the splendor.
