A SPRING GARDEN WEDDING AT QUERENCIA CLUB IN CABO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO
The Story: Overcoming the Challenges of a Large-Scale Destination Wedding in Mexico
When I heard that Jeff and Becky were looking to plan a destination wedding for 250 guests, I knew we were in for a challenge. San Jose del Cabo is a locale that is near and dear to the bride’s family, and it quickly became the couple’s ideal wedding destination as well. The Querencia Club, their desired venue, doesn’t host large events on a regular basis. To further complicate the process of preparing in the days before the wedding, customs blocked the entry of the couple’s custom-engraved wooden chargers. How would we find a replacement on such short notice? Despite these challenges, we were able to pull together a gorgeous event in a locale that was special to the bride’s family.
The key to our solution? Relationships. Building a relationship with the venue and vendors in Mexico while also maintaining relationships with vendors in the U.S. ensured that we had multiple people in our corner when things went awry! When the couple’s engraved wooden menu chargers were held back by customs, I was able to contact Alyssa from Paradise Design. She printed new menus immediately and sent them with Lauren from Fancy Cakes by Lauren, who arrived safely in Cabo with the menus in her suitcase. Layering glass chargers over the new menu cards resulted in a luxurious tablescape—and guests were none the wiser.
